Justin’s Summer Steam Picks (aka play Rocket League with me)

It’s that time of the year again when Steam decides to have a sale and take all of my money. As someone who has over 500 games on his account, though, the sale doesn’t quite hit my wallet like it used to. Having that many games can stress a guy out. However, that doesn’t mean I don’t have recommendations. Whether you’re on a budget or you just got a fat paycheck, I’ve got you covered.

Rocket League:
Sale Price: $11.99 Original: $19.99
Normally, I hate sports. There are too many rules to follow and the crowds are terrible to deal with. Rocket League has changed my mind forever and is in fact the best sports games/if not one of best games I have ever played. The game can be played 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 and is an RC soccer game that is easy to learn but hard to master and rewards you for learning how to do crazy trick shots. The developers also have added a basketball and hockey mode with more updates on the way.

The Walking Dead Season 1&2 by Telltale Games
Season 1&2 Sale Price: $6.24 each Original: $24.99
If you’re a fan of the TV series, the comic book or just great storytelling in general and you haven’t played this, you’re doing yourself a huge disservice. Every second of this game is intense and will constantly keep you guessing on what’s going to happen next. Never assume you’re safe and just because someone or something is nice to you doesn’t mean they’re your allies. Giving away any plot points would spoil the experience. So go in blind and you’ll play something that will stick with you for a lifetime.

Hunie Pop:
Sale Price: $3.09 Original: $9.99
I know what you’re thinking. “Justin, isn’t that a weird lewd waifu dating sim bejeweled game?” Well you’re not completely wrong, but I promise that the game is a lot of fun to play. The puzzles are challenging and winning the girls hearts is a lot harder than you think. The game is also extremely self-aware and realizes how dumb it is, so it’s a fun kind of dumb. Lock the door before you play though.

Half Life 2:
Sale Price: $1.99 Original: $9.99
Half Life 2 won’t seem like it’s a big deal now (it came out over 10 years ago) but it’s still one the best games I have ever played and got me into Steam. The characters are all memorable and playing Episode 2 will give you the reason why everyone still yearns for a third game. The gravity gun and the crossbow are some of the best weapons in first person shooters and the level “Welcome to Ravenholm” is scarier than what most modern horror games can achieve.

Bad Rats:
Sale Price:$ .49 Original: $.99
Like to give your friends terrible gifts? Then look no further than this all-time atrocious classic.  A physics puzzle game that changes the rules to its own physics, it’s sure to make your buddies hate you with a passion. There’s a reason why everyone has this game in their list….because it’s awful. The best gag gift to give to your friends and is almost a rite of passage to have in your library.
